Involving the Medical Practice Management in your business

The Medical Practice Management, AMA, was founded to provide healthcare professionals with up to date medical resources and to create a network of physicians and medical staff. The Medical Practice Management’s website is found at www.ama-assn.org. It provides a portal for healthcare workers and allows them have access to the latest information.

Foundations of the AMA

While the resources at www.ama-assn.org are up to date, the history of the Medical Practice Management started in 1847 when Nathan Smith Davis founded the organization. He received his doctorate when he was only 20. The young prodigy rose in stature and by 1844 he was given a position in the New York Medical Society where he introduced the idea of a nation-wide medical organization to increase the nation’s standards of practice.

The Mission of the AMA

The AMA’s mission is “To promote the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health.” They accomplish their mission through their network of medical practitioners, medical legal advisors and through their online resources at www.ama-assn.org. The AMA strives to keep its decision and policy making processes democratic, giving a voice to every member.

Insurance for Medical Professionals

The AMA provides medical insurance for people who are training to be medical professionals, for residents, for physicians and for their families. The insurance information at www.ama-assn.org reflects their wide range of medical insurance services and provides members with discounts on various health related items. The wide range of AMA-sponsored plans is underwritten by insurers that are A-rated or better as rated by the A. M. Best Company, the independent insurance analyst.

AMA members are exempt from administration fees for their medical insurance products. www.ama-assn.org lists available insurance products that include Accidental death and dismemberment, Disability income prevention, Retirement funding disability, student disability income protection, HIV indemnity, hospital income and long-term care insurance.

While the AMA’s website lists medical related insurance they also provide access to regular insurance like vehicle insurance, personal insurance, and physician office insurance that covers worker compensation and general liability. www.ama-assn.org Also gives medical professionals access to discount savings cards and annuity products.

Legal protection for Medical Professionals

Due to the nature of medical practitioners’ work the medical profession will always be subject to litigation. Access to expert legal advice and online resources through www.ama-assn.org gives medical professionals peace of mind that the survival of their business will not be jeopardized through litigation.

The unincorporated association between state medical societies and the Medical Practice Management forms the AMA’s Litigation Center. It oversees legal procedures within the Federation of Medicine and is directly involved in advancing the AMA’s policies through the courts and legal agencies of the American legal system.

Legal matters handled by the AMA’s Litigation Center are classified in three ways: Dispute resolution between medical professionals and medical establishments, lawsuits between state and medical societies, and appellate level lawsuits where precedents need to be set in line with the AMA’s legal policies.
